The cast included Glynis Johns, Len Cariou, Hermione Gingold, Victoria Mallory, Mark Lambert, Laurence Guittard, Patricia Elliott, and D'Jamin Bartlett. It won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award and the Tony Award for Best Musical. It ran for 601 performances and moved later to the Majestic Theatre.
