Shame

A married couple cultivate their garden on an island just off the coast, trying in vain to avoid the war that is encroaching from the mainland. Though sometimes jokingly referred to as the closest Bergman ever got to an action movie, Shame is no less than Scenes from a Marriage or Winter Light a chamber play on how external violence forces itself into the lives of individuals, and how they react.
