Svenstedt and The Corridor

Bergman’s vicious (and unfair) attack on filmmaker and critic Carl Henrik Svenstedt, accused of bias while sitting on the jury for the Swedish Film Awards.

About the text

The alleged conflict of interest stemmed from with Janne Halldoff’s The Corridor, which Svenstedt had received an offer to help write. When this came to light, he was removed from the jury, a decision applauded by Bergman in this article: “Good riddance to Svenstedt! He stinks!” However, it was later demonstrated that Svenstedt had in fact declined the offer, and he was therefore allowed to remain on the jury.
