A Midsummer Night's Dream

The second production in one year of Shakespeare's comedy, this time for grown-ups but still in an abbreviated version.
'[...] at many points [the play] much better achieves what it set out to do than when the young director staged it the first time.'

About the production

Both students at the time, Vilgot Sjöman and Erland Josephson act in Bergman's second and final staging of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Leif Zern and others have drawn parallels between this fairy tale and Bergman's later film, Smiles of a Summer Night
